EASTERN WRESTLING LEAGUE WRESTLER OF THE WEEK
Our EWL Wrestler of the Week for the week ended December 20, 2009, is Eric Morrill, who is junior at Edinboro University, and competes for the Fighting Scots at 125 pounds. Morrill is from Sandown, New Hampshire, and a graduate of Timberlane High School.
On December 20, 2009, Edinboro competed in the powerful Reno Tournament of Champions, won by the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Fighting Scots edged Penn State University for second place in the team race. Mr. Morrill helped the team effort by racking up four wins and taking the title at 125 pounds.
In his first bout, Mr. Morrill majored his opponent from Cal-Davis University, by a score of 12-4. In the quarterfinals, Eric bested his Boise State foe 10-4. In the semi-finals he decisioned nationally ranked Brad Pataky of Penn State, who was seeded second, by a final score of 10-8. In the finals Morrill faced Anthony Robles of Arizona State, who is a returning NCAA All-American, highly ranked, and first seeded at Reno. Eric scored a takedown late in the third period, rode Robles out, and came away with a 4-3 victory.

Further, the EWL tips its headgear to 2009 NCAA champion, Jarrod King, of Edinboro University. On December 20, 2009, Mr. King, who is undefeated (18-0) this season, won the Reno title at 165 pounds. Good job Jarrod King!
