EASTERN WRESTLING LEAGUE WRESTLER OF THE WEEK

Our EWL Wrestler of the Week for the week ended December 13, 2009, is Anthony Zanetta, who is a true freshman at the University of Pittsburgh, and competes for the Panthers at 125 pounds.  Zanetta won the 2009 PIAA AA Tournament, competing at 119 pounds for Keystone Oaks High School.

On December 12, 2009, Pittsburgh entertained Rutgers of the EIWA and Penn State of the powerful Big Ten Conference.  Zanetta won both of his bouts, helping the Panthers to a 21-18 win over Rutgers and to a 19-19 tie with in-state rival Penn State.  Against Rutgers Mr. Zanetta decisioned the Scarlet Knights' good 125 pounder, Joey Langel, by a score of 7-4, and against PSU he upset the Nittany Lions' nationally ranked Brad Pataky, by a final score of 15-9.

Congratulations to Anthony Zanetta, our EWL Wrestler of the Week.

Further, the EWL tips its headgear to Chris Honeycutt of Edinboro University.  On December 13, 2009, Mr. Honeycutt won the 184-pound title at the Cleveland State Open.  Good job Chris!
