EASTERN WRESTLING LEAGUE WRESTLER OF THE WEEK

 

 Our EWL Wrestler of the Week for the week ended November 8, 2009, is Mike Dessino, who competes for Bloomsburg University at 165 pounds.  Dessino is a true freshman from Middlesex, NJ.  On November 7, Bloomsburg opened its dual meet season, taking on Boston University and Millersville University at Millersville, PA.

 Mr. Dessino helped lead the Huskies to two lopsided dual meet wins.  Against BU Mr. Dessino decisioned 2009 Colonial Athletic Association place winner, Chris Inglin, by a score of 7-4.  Against Millersville he downed 2009 East Regional champion and NCAA qualifier, Scott Brooks, by a final score of 5-2.

  Further, the EWL tips its headgear to Tyler Nauman of the University of Pittsburgh, Ethan Headlee of the University of Pittsburgh, Dan Craig of Lock Haven University, and to Edinboro University's Jarrod King, Chris Honeycutt, and Matt Laird.  On November 7 at the Clarion University Open, Nauman won the title at 141 pounds, Headlee won at 174, and Craig was the champion at 285 pounds.  King and Honeycutt won titles at the Eastern Michigan Open, competing at 165 and 184 pounds, respectively.  True freshman Matt Laird placed first at 157 pounds in the Eastern Michigan Open's Freshman/Sophomore Division.
