EASTERN WRESTLING LEAGUE WRESTLER OF THE WEEK
Our EWL Wrestlers of the Week for the week ended February 14, 2010, are Kyle Rooney, from Cincinnati, Ohio, who is a junior at West Virginia University, and Hadley Harrison, from McKean, Pennsylvania, who is a senior at Clarion University. Mr. Rooney competes at 197 pounds for the Mountaineers, and Mr. Harrison wrestles at 157 for the Golden Eagles.
This past week West Virginia wrestled the University of Pittsburgh on February 9, and Ohio University on February 14. Although the Mountaineers dropped both dual meets, Rooney racked up two huge wins, decisioning Matt Wilps of Pittsburgh and Erik Schuth of Ohio. Wilps and Schuth each currently hold top 20 national rankings.
This past week Clarion dropped a dual meet to Pittsburgh on February 11, then, on February 13, racked up wins over Cleveland State and North Carolina University. Harrison led the attack, going 3-0. Harrison decisioned his Panther opponent, pinned his Viking foe, then topped his week off by pinning tenth-ranked Thomas Scotton of North Carolina.

Also, the EWL salutes Evan Yenolevich of Edinboro, Nathan Pennesi of West Virginia, and Ethan Headlee of Pittsburgh. These three grapplers each won titles at the February 13th Edinboro Open. Yenolevich won at 133 pounds, Pennesi grabbed the gold at 141, and Headlee took the title at 174 pounds.
