EASTERN WRESTLING LEAGUE WRESTLER OF THE WEEK

Our EWL Wrestler of the week for the week ended February 22, 2009, is Torsten Gillespie, a sophomore at Edinboro University.  From Webster, New York, Gillespie is a computer science major, who competes for the Fighting Scots at 149 pounds.

This past weekend Edinboro wrestled two EWL dual meets.  On February 20 the Fighting Scots beat Pittsburgh and on February 22 they tied West Virginia, thus finishing the intra-EWL dual meet season with a W/L record of 5-0-1.  That record edged out West Virginia for the 2009 EWL Dual Meet Championship, as the Mountaineers completed their six-meet EWL vs. EWL schedule at 4-0-2.  Mr. Gillespie led Edinboro to the crown with a pin against Pitt and a crucial win against WVU.

Edinboro head coach Tim Flynn describes Torsten Gillespie as being an excellent student and a lot of fun to be around.  Coach Flynn added, "When Torsten wrestles his best, he can compete with anyone."

Congratulations to Torsten Gillespie, our EWL Wrestler of the Week.

This is the final selection this season for EWL Wrestler of the Week.  Our next event is the EWL Tournament on March 7, at Lock Haven University.  See you there!
