University of Pittsburgh's Justin Nestor
Eastern Wrestling League grapplers had a banner weekend (November 19-20) grabbing eight titles in five different tournaments. Of the eight champions, one who steamrolled his way to a title was Justin Nestor, our EWL Wrestler of the Week for the week ended November 20, 2005. Nestor, from Transfer, Pennsylvania, is a senior at the University of Pittsburgh and competes at 165 pounds.
This past Saturday (November 19th) Mr. Nestor wrestled in the Cornell Body Bar Tournament, held in Ithaca, NY. Nestor won the 165-pound crown, winning four bouts. In the first round Justin scored a 15-0 tech fall, then pinned his Oregon State opponent in the quarter finals. Nestor whomped Joey Hooker of Cornell 13-1 in the semis, and in the finals pinned Cornell's Steve Anceravage in 4:20.
In addition to Nestor's title at Body Bar, the other seven EWL champs were: Cleveland State's Ron Howard (won the Ashland Open at 184 pounds); West Virginia true frosh Brandon Rader (won the Navy Classic at 141); WVU All-American Matt Lebe (Navy Classic champ at 157); Pittsburgh's Matt Kocher (claimed the ESU Open title at 157 pounds); Edinboro's NCAA finalist Shawn Bunch (first at the Missouri Open at 133); Fighting Scot true frosh Gregor Gillespie (won the 149-pound crown at the Missouri Open); and Edinboro's Ryan Morgan (won the 133-pound title in the Missouri Open's Freshmen/Sophomore Division).
Congratulations to Justin Nestor, our Eastern Wrestling League's Wrestler of the Week, and to all of our EWL champions of this past weekend. Good job guys!
