PENN RALLIES PAST CLARION 24-18
Fleming, Harrison, Podish & McCorkle Win

(Wexford, Pa.): Clarion used a pin for James Fleming and a forfeit win from Hadley Harrison to take a 12-9 lead, but Penn rallied to win three of the last five bouts to rally past the Golden Eagles by a 24-18 final score.
Held at North Allegheny High School in Wexford, Pa., Clarion's record drops to 3-5 overall while the Quakers up their record to 5-4.
Penn jumped out to a 9-0 lead winning the first three bouts by decision. Mark Rappo defeated Clarion's Joe Waltko 9-4 at 125, Bryan Ortenzio defeated Jay Ivanco 8-4 at 133 and Zack Kemmerer edged Greg Lewis 8-6 at 141.
Clarion bolted back at 149-pounds when freshman James Fleming pinned Troy Hernandez at 2:43, after leading the Quaker 11-0 in the first period. Fleming raised his season record to 18-5.
Captain Hadley Harrison received a forfeit win at 157, giving the Eagle senior his 89th career victory and Clarion had a 12-9 lead.
Penn's #20 ranked Gabe Burak pinned Nick Milano at 4:52 at 165, and #13 rated Scott Giffin pinned Steven Cressley at 6:05 to put the Quakers in front 21-12.
Clarion sophomore Clint Podish put the Eagles back in the match with a 7-3 win over Cory Beaver at 184. Podish had a first period takedown, a second period reversal and another takedown in the third for his win.
At 197 the Eagles Alex Thomas wrestled #19 Micah Burak to the wire before losing 9-4. the duo were tied 4-4 in the third when Burak escaped and eventually got the match winning takedown late.
Clarion heavyweight Quintas McCorkle used a big third period to decision Tyler Blakely 10-6. Tied 3-3 in the third, McCorkle notched three straight takedowns and a stall point to get boost his record to 18-11.
Clarion will return to action next Friday when the Eagles travel to Bloomsburg for a 7pm match. The Eagles move on to Princeton on Saturday for a 3pm match, and a 6pm contest at Rider.
CLARION NOTES: Harrison's win gives him 89 in his career... He is tied for 23rd on the all-time win list with Peter Derstine and Erik Burnett...
