Wrestling falls to Bucknell 25-12

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University wrestling team (2-7) fell to visiting Bucknell University (10-6) 25-12 tonight in non-conference action. It marked the first time ever that Bucknell has beaten Lock Haven and the Bison did it in solid form, winning 7-of-10 bouts. BU also held an 18-5 advantage in takedowns. LHU still holds a 15-1 lead in the all-time series dating back to 1947.

Lock Haven went up 6-0 early after Nick Hyatt (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) was awarded a win following a Bucknell forfeit. The Bison went on to win the next six matches collecting bonus points in three of them. Jeremie Cook (Venice, Fla./Venice) snapped Bucknell's streak after an exciting bout with Rob Walkto. Cook scored one a takedown with just 12 seconds left in the first overtime period to earn a hard-fought win over a scrappy Walkto. Dan Craig (Paw Paw, Mich./Allegan) was Lock Haven's third winner on the night. He edged Bucknell's Joe McMullan 3-2 at heavyweight.

The Bald Eagles are back in action when Lock Haven hosts rival Bloomsburg next Friday (February 12) at 7 p.m. in Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) action.
