Cleveland State at Bucknell Duals
Lewisburg, PA – In their first dual competition since John Carroll (Nov. 25), the Vikings came out and obliterated Wagner, by a score of 46-3, in the first ever meeting between the two programs. Cleveland State won nine of the 10 contested matches including two tech. falls and four pin falls.
The dual started at 125 pounds with Jordan Keller winning by forfeit. Josh Palivoda recorded the first of two tech falls for the Vikings with a 16-1 victory over Tyler Harmer.
Lawrence Cavello notched his sixth victory of the season with a 3-1 decision over Ryan Cornell. Senior Antonio Nicholson also tallied a 9-3 decision over Wagner’s Jake Villaret, giving him 12 victories on the season.
At 157 pounds, Corey Carlo recorded the second tech fall for the Vikings with an 18-3 victory over Nick Dalcero.
The Vikings continued their success with two consecutive pins at 165 pounds with Rob Michaels and at 174 pounds with JT Miller. Michaels tallied a pin at 0:41, giving him his seventh win of the season and his third by way of pin fall. Miller earned his second pin fall of the season taking down Ryan Malloy in 5:36.
After a Dustin Doty loss at 184 pounds, the Vikings slammed the door shut with two more pin falls to close the match. Sophomore Eric Schwartz recorded his first victory of the season with a pin fall over Vinny Tortorella in just 1:13. Rashard Goff only needed 0:41 to pin Mark Wagner, to give the senior his team high 15 win of the season.
With the win, the Vikings are now 3-1 in dual competition.
The Vikings will be back in action on December 29, when they travel to Evanston, Illinois to compete in the two-day Midlands Invitational. Action is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day.

Lewisburg, PA – The Vikings dropped their second contest of the season by a score of 14-28 against Drexel on Friday (12/19). Cleveland State score two victories via major decision along with another Rashard Goff win.
Jordan Keller got the Vikings out to a quick lead posting his team high sixth major decision, with a 15-2 win over Michael Gomez.
After two Vikings losses, senior Antonio Nicholson stepped up and recorded a major decision victory of his own by defeating Robert Robinson 10-2, giving Nicholson his first win by a major decision of the young season.
Dustin Doty at 165 pounds was able to keep the Viking momentum going, collecting his third victory of the season with a 10-5 decision over Scott Hunter.
With the Vikings on the verge of a comeback, Drexel was able to roll off three consecutive wins at 174, 184 and 197 pounds.
The final match of the contest at heavyweight placed number 17 Rashard Goff against Kyle Frey. Goff was able to keep his undefeated mark at dual events perfect with an 8-3 decision, running his record to 5-0.
The Vikings however, were a lot closer than the 14-point deficit indicated. Josh Palivoda at 133 pounds gave Cleveland State a hard fought match, but in the end came up one point short in a 5-4 loss to Frank Cimato. Corey Carlo at 157 pounds also put up a tremendous battle in a 3-2 loss to Billy Haydt.
With the loss, the Vikings have an overall record of 3-2 this season.

Lewisburg, PA – The Vikings dropped the final contest of the Bucknell Quad, 15-32, against host Bucknell. Cleveland State scored three victories, including a pin by Rob Michaels.
The first Viking win of the meet came at 141 pounds, when Lawrence Cavello took Adam Healey into overtime. Cavello was able to score a quick takedown in the overtime period to lock down a 6-4 decision.
With Bucknell pulling away, Rob Michaels was able to pin Nicholas Czapla in 2:03, to notch his team high fourth pin fall of the season.
Senior Rashard Goff was also able to continue his undefeated dual meet record of the season, by taking on a forfeit victory, giving him a 6-0 mark.
Cleveland State finished the Bucknell Quad posting a record of 1-2, to run their overall season record to 3-3.
